This autumn will see the opening of Newbie’s first two British stores outside of London. And to meet our growing flock of British “Newbie lovers”, Newbie will be setting out on a summer bus tour – just as the brand is getting noticed in royal circles.
Newbie’s first UK store opened its doors at the end of 2017, and there are now six stores in the country, in addition to the online store. At the end of August, Newbie will be unveiling its two first stores outside London, in Sheffield and Milton Keynes.
But first, to serve the growing flock of “Newbie lovers” around the country, Newbie will be setting off on a national bus tour over the summer.
“We’ve taken inspiration from KappAhl founder Per-Olof Ahl, who in the 1950s took to the road when demand for KappAhl was greater than the retail space available,” says Camilla Wernlund, Newbie International Expansion Manager.
Swedish Midsummer on the Newbie bus
The bus tour made its first stop in Milton Keynes for the Midsummer weekend, where Newbie hosted a classic Swedish Midsummer celebration, complete with dancing around the Midsummer pole, wreath-making and typical Swedish Midsummer fare.
The tour will run until 31 August, and will feature stops at markets and festivals around the country. The bus will be acting as a mobile, digital and social showroom, showing off current collections and giving customers the chance to order their favourites for next-day home delivery. During the tour, Newbie will also be working with local lifestyle influencers, who will be talking about everything from sustainable cooking to babies’ sleeping patterns (or lack thereof).
Newbie has also been selected as one of the brands to be featured in Our Royal Baby, a souvenir photography book to be published in summer to celebrate the birth and christening of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first child.
