Comfortable street styles for fashion-conscious older kids – this autumn, KappAhl is launching a new unisex venture.
“This unisex collection is an important statement,” says Maja Olsbo, business area designer for Kids.
Unite is the word printed on the unisex collection’s cool and relaxed hoodies, joggers and accessories.
“We probably had a list of 100 words that we sifted through before eventually going with Unite,” says designer Hanna Bergfeldt with a laugh.
Unite represents us bringing together boys and girls under one and the same inclusive umbrella.
“Kids should be allowed to be kids and make their own choices about who they want to be. Everyone is welcome, and everyone should be able to find clothes they feel good in from the collection,” Bergfeldt explains.
The unisex collection’s roomy, comfortable, street-inspired garments come in neutral colours such as grey marl, red and yellow, and a green camouflage print. The collection also features nineties elements such as prints on the back, side stripes, a bomber jacket and a cross-body bag.
“Kids should be allowed to be kids and make their own choices about who they want to be. Everyone is welcome, and everyone should be able to find clothes they feel good in from the collection.”
“Streetwear is massive in the fashion world right now – as is unisex fashion, not least for kids and teens. It’s probably because those stereotypical notions of what boys and girls should wear or do no longer exist – nowadays you can play football, skateboard or do bead crafts regardless of your gender. In this collection, we bring together street and unisex styles,” says Olsbo.
KappAhl has had unisex collections before, but never previously for older kids.
“With this, we really are diving into something new, but it feels absolutely the right time, and an exciting and very good thing. We of course hope to see it continue,” says Bergfeldt.
The unisex collection will be available in selected stores and in our Shop Online.
