KappAhl is the Blooming Company of the Year! For the second time, KappAhl has been awarded the title because we support the aid organisation, the Mayflower Charity, which in its turn supports children in financially vulnerable families. Yesterday, the grand prize giving ceremony was held with the Queen of Sweden at the palace in Stockholm.
The Mayflower Charity is a child aid organisation that, from its start in 1907, provides grants to children in financially vulnerable families. For example, grants are given for leisure activities, spectacles, a bicycle or winter clothing.
KappAhl has supported the Mayflower Charity since 2008; this includes allowing the organisation to buy gift cards from KappAhl at a reduced price. These gift cards are then distributed to child families in need. Our sponsorship of gift cards is equivalent to around SEK 1,5 million (EUR 145 000).
In addition, the money collected from one of the year’s clothing sales at our head office goes to the Mayflower Charity, an amount that usually comes in at just over SEK 40,000 (EUR 4000). KappAhl also provides swimwear, rainwear and summer clothes to children attending the Mayflower Charity’s summer camps.
Second award for KappAhl
The Blooming Company of the Year is awarded by the Mayflower Charity to the company that has done the most to support the organisation during the year. This year, it is KappAhl!
On Thursday, 21 September, the award was presented by the Queen of Sweden at the palace in Stockholm. The Country Manager KappAhl Sweden at KappAhl, Anna Karin Holck, and the Head of Corporate communications, Charlotte Högberg, accepted the prize.
This is the second time KappAhl has been awarded the title Blooming Company of the Year, the first time was in 2009.
